Welcome to the blog of Melanie McDonald ! I'm a professional artist, my life is divided between my home in Newquay, Cornwall and my renovation project - an 18th Century farm - in North Brittany, France. My inspiration comes from the beautiful beaches, skies and seas of Cornwall, Brittany and Scotland. This is where I share my paintings and photographs, I hope it inspires you.

Light on water.
When I need some perspective on life, something to focus on and take away the fear of what the future holds, I watch light on water. I think about light travelling all the way from the sun or the moon, like in the photo above. When it hits the surface of the sea, what happens to the light? I suppose it refracts back into space. On calm days the water surface acts like a mirror, I can see myself reflected in the glass, who am I? If I look straight down, the mirror disappears and I can see what's under the surface .... inky blur, your tears, midnight depths. How far does the light travel? How deep before it gets dark?
